First grants approved under Ready Now Grant

CORANGAMITE Shire Council approved two applications under the new Ready Now Grants Program.

CORANGAMITE Shire Council approved two applications under the new Ready Now Grants Program.

The Ready Now Grant program replaced the popular Quick Response Grant program and see’s applications approved by shire chief executive officer David Rae as opposed to going before council each month.

The applications approved were:

Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club, $500 for the purchase of a double-sided mobile whiteboard and pinboard; and Camperdown Angling Club, $500 for the installation of energy efficient lighting.

Shire community development officer Garry Moorfield said the Ready Now Grants Program has a fixed budget which council provides annually for the distribution of funds to eligible volunteer-based shire community groups.

“The 2023/24 Quick Response Grants/Ready Now Program budget allocation was $20,000,” he said.

“Grants to a total value of $7858 have been awarded to October 10, 2023.”

Mr Moorfield said the two applications approved for funded were in accordance with the Ready Now Grants Program and would result in positive outcomes for the Corangamite communities.
