POMBORNEIT’S division one men’s team has had its first loss for the 2023-24 season, copping a 116-run thumping at the hands of Heytesbury-Princetown at Timboon.

After the home team got away to a flying start, it was the Bulls trio of spinners who pegged the scoring back, led by 3-32 from Tharaka Sendanayake.

Stephen Hill also bowled a tight 10 over spell to finish with 2-33 as Heytesbury-Princetown completed its 50 overs with 9-189.

Pomborneit's innings saw regular wickets throughout, disappointingly all out for just 73.

The division one Bulls will hope to regroup this week with a trip to Woorndoo for their next match.

In division two, skipper Matt Richardson sent Heytesbury-Princetown in to bat at the Timboon High School Oval; his bowlers justifying that decision with some disciplined bowling.

New ball bowler Hunter Reynolds with 2-14 from eight overs was particularly impressive.

Charlie Voutier with 3-12 and two wickets to Jhai Gavin saw the home team bundled out for 77.

A hard hitting 34 from 28 balls to Matt Richardson saw the division two Bulls make light work of the run chase.

Charlie Voutier (22 not out) and Luke Reynolds (6 not out) saw Pomborneit over the line in the 12th over.
