The Swans led at quarter time by four points but were quickly overtaken in the second term.

“We didn't kick straight in the first quarter when we controlled the play and it was disappointing not to make more of that,” lamented Caramut coach Scott Judd.

The home team kicked six goals to two in the second quarter to open up a break.

Caramut won the third quarter, kicking five goals to three, but again Judd felt his side didn’t capitalise fully on opportunities.

Great Western stormed home with a nine goal last term to blow out the margin.

“We were disappointed we didn’t make more of our good play in the first and third quarters, but there was still plenty of good signs,” Judd said.

Ben Makepeace kicked five goals for the Swans and was named best player.

Judd was impressed with how Makepeace created and took his opportunities.

“To kick half our goals is a great effort and indicative of how he played,” Judd said.

A fast finishing Great Western couldn’t catch Caramut in the reserves football, the Swans winning 8-10-58 to 7-6-48.

Joel Hariss, Joe Douglas and club president Phil Edwards were best for the Swans ressies; Douglas also slotting through five goals.

Caramut had a strong win in the under 16.5 football, 9-16-70 to 0-1-1.

Spurs Lynch and Carl Lehmann were named best players, with that pair also kicking three goals each.

In A grade netball, Great Western defeated Caramut 39-18.

Emilie Tonissen scored 10 goals for the Swans, Charlotte Van Der Starre Caramut’s best player on the day.

Caramut had a 31-27 win in the B grade netball game.

Chloe Anderson shot 17 goals while Nada McCarroll was best for the team.

Caramut also took the points in C grade with a 20-17 win.

Rachel Hassett shot 10 goals and Georgina Russell was best for the Swans.

In the 18 and under netball, Caramut had a 33-31 win.

Emilie Tonissen was on fire with 25 goals with Sarah Russell best on court.

Great Western won the 15 and under netball by a solitary goal, 22-21.

Gracie O’Sullivan was named as best, with Yolie O’Sullivan scoring 11 goals.

Caramut was too strong in the under 13 netball, recording a 28-9 victory, with Payson Walker best on court.
