YOUNG anglers might be able to catch themselves a fish or two at local water ways including in Simpson.

Locally, school holiday stockings were completed at:

• Lismore Golf Club Dam, 200 trout;

• Tea Tree Lake, Mortlake, 200 trout;

• Lake Cobden, 300 trout; and

• Simpson Dam, 300 trout.

A planned stocking for Skipton was cancelled due to water quality and/or access issues.

In the lead up to the school holidays, Snobs Creek hatchery team members stocked more than 70 family fishing lakes with 35,000 catchable size rainbow trout for the kids to reel in.

Rainbows can be easy to catch and take a variety of baits and lures so they are perfect for children and beginners.

Locals have been encouraged to rug up and head down to their closest family fishing lake to catch a new hobby

Family fishing lakes are stocked for the June and September school holidays and are funded by your recreational fishing licence fees and the State Government’s $35 million Go Fishing Victoria plan to get more people fishing, more often.
