Five wickets for Walker
LISMORE registered its second win for the season with an eight run victory in the round five Grenville Cricket Association match at Rokewood on Saturday.
Sent in to bat, Lismore was bowled out for 171 in the 40th over.
Opener Cooper Cahill continued his good form with 29 from 35 balls including five boundaries.
Clint Dudman pushed the innings along with 52 from 71 balls, with three fours and a six.
“Cooper again hit the ball hard early and got us off to a great start,” Lismore co-captain Scott Walker said.
A 99 run fifth wicket partnership between Dudman and Tom Brett was crucial to the final tally.
Brett made 47 from 75 balls, with four fours and two sixes.
“Clint batted really well and hit some boundaries when we needed the score to keep moving along.
“Tom is more of a golfer than a cricketer, he filled in, played well defensively in an unorthodox at times innings.”
In reply, Rokewood was cruising at 2/117 before Walker was relieved of the wicket keeping gloves and brought on to bowl.
Walker ran through the Rokewood middle order, claiming 5/15 from seven overs, the first five wicket haul of his career.
“It was nice to do well, it was touch and go for a while, they fielded a similar team to us with four or five regulars then some fill-ins.
“Once we got through their top order we were right on top.”
Dudman impressed Walker with 2/30 from eight overs, with Hely De Silva, Jack Fay and Josh Cahill taking a wicket each.
“Clint hit good lines and bowled really good lengths.
“Hely’s medium pacers were hard for them to pick with his variations.”
This week Lismore face top of the ladder Haddon at Haddon.
“Haddon are super competitive, we’ve got a lot of respect for them and how they play.”
Derrinallum had the week off after Lexton forfeited their game, with the Tigers having the bye this week.
In the under 16s, Lismore batted first against Derrinallum, making 7/82 from their 25 overs.
Breeana Daffy with 17 and Liam Barr with 13 were the top scorers for Lismore, with Fletcher Greig and Eddie Gellie taking two wickets each for Derrinallum.
The Tigers replied with 4/156.
Openers Fletcher Greig, with 53 retired from 52 balls, and Neave Thompson, with 34 from 35, top scored for Derrinallum.
This week’s junior games see Derrinallum hosting Rokewood, while Lismore play Linton at Linton.
