Flautist provides Xmas cheer
LOCAL flautist Howlin Wind will be helping spread Christmas cheer over the next few weeks with the help of his trusty flute.
Spreading Christmas cheer: Howlin Wind is playing Christmas favourites over the next four weeks to help spread some Christmas cheer over December.
Mr Wind began playing his flute outside DJ’s Café on Manifold Street last week, playing a variety of Christmas carols as passers-by sang along or simply listened.
He said he started four years ago after the owner asked if he would be willing to play outside his store.
“This is a thrill for me – to get out on the street,” Mr Wind said.
“People stop and sing along, stop and have a cuppa or talk to their friends. It’s very social.
“It livens up the street.
“It’s been very nice. I appreciate being invited to play.”
Howlin Wind will continue to play his flute on Fridays between 12noon and 2pm leading up to Christmas.
