Fond memories for Doreen

AFTER more than 70 years helping the Cobden community, Doreen Sullivan has retired from the Cobden Country Women’s Association (CWA).

AFTER more than 70 years helping the Cobden community, Doreen Sullivan has retired from the Cobden Country Women’s Association (CWA).

Mrs Sullivan joined the CWA 72 years ago and has been involved in its various forms including evening branch and day branch.

“There wasn’t a lot around in those days unless you were sport oriented,” she said.

“I just enjoyed it. Friendship I think is important and helping the community.

“I’ve always been a volunteer of lotsof things.”

Retiring was bittersweet for Mrs Sullivan who decided it was time to step back fromthe group.

“I have bad hearing and I just can’t keep up any more at meetings,” she said.

“I was always involved in the catering and the craft.

“I have lots of fun memories.”

A particularly memorable experience with the group for Mrs Sullivan was the group’s 50 year anniversary.
