THE Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is hosting a Curdies River Community Forum and invites all interested community members and stakeholders to come and hear the latest research on the health of the Curdies River.

The Corangamite CMA will host a panel featuring researchers, community, industry and Landcare representatives.

Corangamite CMA will provide context to the history of management in the Curdies River catchment and Deakin University researchers will present their latest understanding of nutrient enrichment in the river and what is causing recurrent blue-green algae blooms.

Community members will be invited to ask questions and share their knowledge to help inform the research and future recommendations for the Curdies River.

The session will be held on Saturday between 10am and 12 noon at the Peterborough Community Hall in Macs Street Peterborough.

Corangamite CMA chief executive officer John Riddiford said the Community Forum would be an opportunity for agencies to share the latest research from the Curdies River, and give community representatives the opportunity to raise concerns and ask questions of the community and the experts.

“Anyone with an interest in the Curdies River catchment including Scott’s and Cooriemungle Creeks are encouraged to come along and hear the latest news and developments, as well as to contribute to the discussion,” he said.

Community members and stakeholders who wish to attend are asked to register via the CCMA website: Curdies River Community Forum – Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (ccma.vic.gov.au).
