WITH four sides sitting in the top five on their respective ladders, Lismore Derrinallum netballers are “pumped” for the start of Mininera finals this weekend.
Senior coach Amy Lodge said this Sunday’s elimination round – to be held at Lismore – would be an exciting day for the club, with A grade, C grade and its 15 and under side to play.
The Demons’ 13 and under team finished on top of the ladder and will enjoy a week’s break.
“We are super stoked to be playing finals; it’s been eight years since our A grade did that so we are all very excited,” Lodge said.
Last Saturday’s final round of the home and away season was another successful one on the court for the Demons, winning A grade 51-24.
Best for the team were Steff Cox and Amy Lodge.
“It was great to finish the home and away season with a good win,” Lodge said.
“We were able to try out a couple of new combinations during the game, which seemed to work well.”
Lodge praised the efforts of the entire side and said it was pleasing to see their intensity maintained throughout the game.
“It was great to see the girls keep up their intensity for the entire four quarters because that’s what will get us over the line in finals."
“Maddi Nettleton was new to our side in the latter half of the season and she has slotted in really well.”
Toni DeGrandi was named best for the Demons in their 24-29 goal loss in the B grade game while C grade enjoyed a comfortable 29-20 goal victory, with Rebbekah Neale best on court.
In the juniors, the Demons’ 17 and unders went down 17-34, the 15 and under side won 16-11 (Breeanna Daffy best on court) while the 13s won on forfeit.
Game times for Sunday are as follows:
15 and under - Lismore Derrinallum v Tatyoon at 11am
C grade – Lismore Derrinallum v Glenthompson Dunkeld at 1pm; and
A grade – Lismore Derrinallum v Hawkesdale Macarthur at 3pm.
