Free workshop to heighten fire safety
TIMBOON and District Healthcare Service (TDHS) is offering a free grassfire planning workshop in conjunction with the Country Fire Authority (CFA) at Timboon Healthcare.

On Monday, November 10, from 11am-1pm, a session will run with information on fire preparation, fire behaviour and personal safety.
Timboon CFA First Lieutenant Daryl Spencer said they were hoping to bring a burn table to the event to demonstrate the dangers of fire.
“It’s a big table and we put a map of Timboon on it and build all the mountains and the hills and everything onto it then we can set a pretend fire onto it,” he said.
“We can change the wind direction and see which way it’s going to burn and see how big it gets, how fast it gets, and we’re trying to get that at the TDHS day.
“It’s very impressive.
“We’ve booked that at the school for a day and we’re just trying to see if we can book it for this.”
Mr Spencer said the day was a great opportunity for the community to get involved with fire safety.
“We have to do a fire safety plan for the hospital every year before the fire season,” he said.
“We’ve got a new chief executive officer and he decided to do a day for the community to get everybody involved.
“They’re expecting 80-90 people there.
“A lot of oldies will come because if the hospital is hosting something, they’re certainly going to be there.
“We just want as many people as we can to roll up.”
