LIONS Club of Camperdown saw changes to leadership and volunteers’ work honoured at its Changeover Dinner last Thursday.
The dinner, held at the Camperdown Uniting Church, was a time to transition to a new-look leadership while reflecting on the work completed over the 2022-2023 Lions year.
Works undertaken by the Lions club during this time included delivering kitchen caddy liners, running the March long weekend Driver Reviver, the Youth of the Year event, and catering for a variety of community events.
This contributed to the Lions’ 3407 hours of service, over 150 activities, to 19,254 people in the community.
Lions also provided $9000 worth of donations, goods and services to those in need.
Guests invited to the changeover included Lions club members from surrounding districts and representatives from Corangamite Shire Council, Camperdown SES Unit, Camperdown Rotary Club and RSL.
Lion Jeanette Duncanson was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship award, an award presented by the Lions Clubs International Foundation.
Ms Duncanson said she was thrilled to receive the award.
“It’s not something everyone is given, so I was very pleased,” she said.
“I’ve been in the club for 29 and a half years now, and I’ve done all sorts over the time.
“When we join Lions, we give freely of our time, labour and needs.
“I’ve really tried to do that, and to continue to do that while I’m able.
“When you get to 80, you don’t how long you’ve got to be fit enough to do those sort of things. I do it while I can.”
Outgoing president Jan Smith also announced the members of the Lions board for the 2023-2024 Lions year:
