Fresh look for businesses
BUSINESSES will gain a fresh look for their windows thanks to funding from Corangamite Shire Council’s Business Assistance Scheme.
There were four applications which all fell under stream one, supporting businesses to improve their visual appearance and function of the building.
Funding of $1335 will go towards new business identification signage and window decals for Leehane’s Country Meats, in Terang which is owned by The Trustee for Leehane Family Trust.
Daryl Andrew Burns, who will be trading as Under the Elms Bookshop received $1771.48 for new business identification signage.
MiJourney Support Services Pty Ltd, trading as Jaffle Kitchen by MiJourney Support Services, also received funding for new business identification signage to the value of $2130.
Progressing Cobden, which trades as the Cobden Visitor Information Centre received $2783.50 for new business identification signage, cleaning and painting.
All applications also received a planning permit fee waiver of $226.50.
Councillor Ruth Gstrein said the Business Assistance Scheme was a great initiative for the community.
“I’m very excited about this – two new businesses in Camperdown in the main street, so it’s fantastic,” she said.
“The fact that it’s a rolling scheme and businesses can apply any time throughout the year – I think it’s a fairly easy process for them to apply and we’ve seen some very excellent outcomes in our streetscapes.”

Councillor Laurie Hickey seconded the motion, saying he was pleased to see new businesses among the applicants.
“Applications are always assessed on their merit and they need to meet eligibility requirements,” he said.
“Congratulations to these four businesses who have done so.
“I would like to remind everyone there is help along the way to help set up a new business – that’s always available through the team if they contact the shire office.”
The total funding provided through this round of the Business Assistance Scheme is $8019.98, with $906 of planning permit fee waivers.
Mayor Kate Makin encouraged businesses to apply, with $25,919.47 remaining of the allocated $50,000 budget.
“If you need something, just make sure you get in there and get that help where required,” she said.
“Contact the council and see what we can do for you.”
