Frogs to return after bye
ECKLIN had the bye in round 14 of the Colac-South West premier cricket competition.
The 10th placed Frogs will return to action this week, hosting 15th place Apollo Bay at the Ecklin Recreation Reserve in the final round of the season.
In division two, Ecklin had a six wicket loss to Heytesbury-Princetown Purple at the Timboon Recreation Reserve.
Batting first, Ecklin were all out for 183 in the 36th over.
Troy Logan top scored for the division two Frogs with 72 from 82 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes in his innings.
Anthony Clark, with 32 not out from 37 balls, and Ben Howarth with 27 from 21, contributed at well towards the end of the innings.
The Storm cruised to victory in 33.3 overs for the loss of four wickets.
Brendan Cook was the best of the Ecklin bowlers, with 1/36 from eight overs, with Anthony Clark, Ben Howarth and Jasper Fraser taking a wicket each.
This week, in division two's last match of the season, sixth place Ecklin play Pomborneit at Pomborneit.
In division three, Ecklin had a four-wicket loss to Pomborneit Maroon at Ecklin.
Batting first, Ecklin made 7/157 from their 40 overs.
Opener Murray Ellerton led the way with 97 from a 129 balls, hitting 10 fours and a six, with Jason Benson finishing 34 not out from 61 balls.
Pomborneit Maroon reached the score in the 30th over for the loss of 6 wickets.
Skipper Tim Carroll led the Ecklin bowling with 2/30 from eight overs.
This week, the division three Frogs, in sixth place on the ladder, play their final game of the season against Heytesbury-Princetown at Princetown.
In round 10 of the South West Women's competition last Wednesday night, Ecklin had a 74 run loss to Bookaar at Ecklin.
The visitors batted first, making 2/139 from their 20 overs.
For Ecklin, Kelly Gowland and Melissa Benson took a wicket each.
In reply, the Frogs made 4/65 from their 20 overs.
Claire Wines was the top scorer with 30 not out from 62 balls.
This week's semi final sees a repeat of that match, this time with Bookaar hosting Ecklin at Frederick Street Oval.
In the under 13s on Monday night, Ecklin had a win over Heytesbury-Princetown at Timboon.
The Storm batted first, making 5/77 from their 24 overs, with Nelson Sloane taking 2/5 from two overs.
In reply, Ecklin made 5/102 from their 24 overs.
Seamus Meade top scored with 22 retired from 18 balls, while Alexander Gubbins made 20 retired from 18.
Ecklin’s third win in the under 13 competition sees the junior Frogs finish the season in sixth position.
