The PaddleHub education sessions, provided by Corangamite Shire Council, saw a strong crowd learning from Paddle Victoria instructors before going out on the lake.

Deputy mayor councillor Laurie Hickey said the day proved ideal for paddling despite some winds in the morning making the lake choppy.

“We had about 30 people who took part in the tuition sessions and a few other locals turned up and enjoyed the beautiful lake and surrounds,” he said.

“A couple of kids went home with wet clothes, but that’s always a risk with kayaking.

“It was a perfect day with lots of other people on the lake as well.

“The fishers were certainly catching a lot of fish.

“It was good to be all together as part of the boating community.”

Council is looking into having another paddle event later in the year, or early next year.
