Funding boost for business
LISMORE’S Foodworks will be getting updated signage thanks to the Business Assistance Scheme, with councillors urging business owners to apply before the end of the financial year.
At Corangamite Shire Council’s Ordinary Meeting of Council on Tuesday, councillors voted to approve $1775 of funding for new business identification signage.
Councillor Ruth Gstrein used the opportunity to remind business owners there are four streams of the scheme, with $14,949 remaining in the budget.
“There’s the façade improvement, which is what we’ve seen, creative industries and placemaking, community enterprise projects and fees and enabling infrastructure,” she said.
“Importantly, the amount allocated might have been frugal, but there is just under $15,000 still available for businesses and community groups.
“You’ve got until the end of the financial year, otherwise you’ll miss out, so please get your applications in.
“Contact the Economic Development staff if you need assistance.”
Councillor Nick Cole said businesses across the shire were eligible to apply for the funding.
“I do note there’s been a few businesses sold in Derrinallum and Lismore very recently, so they might be after some more signage,” he said.
“I hope they do that – it generally tidies up the place a bit when they get the signs repainted.
“They’ve been there for a while and it makes them look more attractive to people coming through.”
