Fundraising begins with guides garage sale

RESIDENTS with items hiding in their sheds with no use are being encouraged to donate them to the Camperdown Girl Guides, or to bring them down to the Guide Hall (251 Manifold Street) themselves, for the guides’ upcoming garage sale.

Set for Saturday, February 28, the Camperdown Girl Guides will be selling a variety of household furniture, books, toys and more with all proceeds going back to the guides to cover operating costs for the hall.

Organiser Kylie Spokes said the garage sale was motivated by a stream of donations from people who have left the Camperdown area recently.

“A lot of people were interested in having general garage sale stalls when we had our Children’s Market back in 2024,” she said.

“People who didn’t want to have a garage sale at their own home or thought they didn’t have enough to warrant people dropping in can have a stall at our garage sale for just $25 each and can sell their wares for their own profit.

“If anyone has one-off items they would like the guides to sell and make money off, we’re happy for them to get in contact with us and we’ll pick them up.

“It’s the same weekend as the Noorat Garage Sale Trail, so we thought it would complement that.

“We have to raise around $4000 a year to keep the guide hall operational, so this is just the start of our fundraising activities for the year.”

The garage sale will run from 9am-1pm, with everyone welcome to drop by the hall and see what’s on offer.
