Shire community development officer Garry Moorfield said the Ready Now Grants Program provides financial assistance to eligible volunteer-based community groups to undertake beneficial projects and activities.

Applications approved since the October meeting of council were:

  • Derrinallum Cricket Club Inc, $500 for purchase of protective cricket gear;

  • Camperdown Theatre Company Inc, $500 for staging and advertising of Camperdown Community Carols;

  • Port Campbell Progress Group Inc, $404 for purchase of a teardrop flag and base;

  • Heytesbury District Historical Society Inc, $500 for purchase of computer and cataloguing system;

  • Timboon Field and Game Club Inc, $330 for the purchase of three hand-held UHF radio sets; and

  • Simpson and District Community Centre Inc, $500 for the purchase of whiteboards, stationary and local excursions for CALD conversational English language program.

Mr Moorfield said the 2023/24 Quick Response Grants/Ready Now Program budget allocation was $20,000.

“Grants to a total value of $10,386.64 have been awarded to November 16, 2023,” he said.

Councillors congratulated all successful applicants.

“It (the funds) all keeps things running and gets those small things out of the way,” councillor Jamie Vogels said.

North Ward councillor Nick Cole agreed.

“This is a great way of community groups to access small amounts for projects they would have struggled with otherwise,” he said.
