LISMORE Primary School could soon Labor candidate for Polwarth Hutch Hussein visited the school last Thursday, pledging $1.8 million if the Andrews Labor Government is re-elected at the state election.
“Every family deserves a great local school and the Andrews Labor Government will deliver nearly $19 million dollars across three Polwarth schools and one kindergarten... so kids in Polwarth have the world-class classrooms they deserve,” she said.
“The best teachers aren’t able to do the best job in ageing classrooms and out-of-date facilities.
“That’s why the Andrews Labor Government has invested more than $12.8 billion to build and upgrade schools in every corner of the state – making sure every kid has every chance.”
School principal Brad Whittaker welcomed the funding pledge.
“We would certainly be pleased with any support that could benefit the children in the long run,” he said.
“It was definitely a surprise for us.”
Mr Whittaker said any funding which came to fruition could be used in a number of areas.
“There are a couple of areas of the school we would look to upgrade,” he said.
“A toilet block upgrade is something we would look at as well as updatingtechnological areas.”
A commitment was also given for $6.6 million for the Cobden Technical School.
