AN innovative art exhibition will leave a lasting imprint at the Camperdown Hospital.

Corangamite Arts’ ‘Ladies in Waiting’ exhibition – which saw about 40 pregnant mannequins painted in various ways – were sold with proceeds being donated to the hospital midwifery unit.

Corangamite Arts committee member Jan Barnes said the exhibition raised $2100 for the Camperdown Hospital, which was presented on Wednesday.

“Since mid-September, the mannequins have been displayed in the window of 147 Manifold Street and in the foyer of the Camperdown Hospital, attracting much comment around the town and many generous purchases and donations,” she said.

“Corangamite Arts wishes to particularly thank Phil Russell, who donated the naked mannequins and Delyce England who came up with the idea of decorating them to raise funds and awareness.

“Thanks also go to Lois Dupleix for displaying the ladies in her cafe; Camperdown Hospital for its ongoing support of the project; and our artist-members whose creativity in decorating the ladies knew no bounds.”

Hospital campus manager Janine Durea-Finn thanked the group for its support.

“I can’t thank the group enough for this,”she said.

“We have just loved having the mannequins on display in the hospital.

“We’re very grateful that we’ve had one mannequin purchased and donated to the hospital and we have that one on display at the midwifery unit.”
