Throughout Term Three, students worked on a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)-themed project to benefit their school community.

STEM teacher Lauren Murphy said the presentation was held on Wednesday, September 18 at Warrnambool’s Lighthouse Theatre.

“Students and staff from a number of local schools were treated to guest speaker Hannah Moloney from Manta Trust, who spoke about how she became a marine biologist,” she said.“This was a very inspiring talk for our girls and the perfect start to the evening.

“This is such an amazing experience for our students and one in which our students have thrived.”

The students participated as two teams, the “Care Bears” and the “BiZaRt Gals”.

Ms Murphy said both teams presented “extremely well” and hoped they were “very proud of themselves” for their achievements.

“The Care Bears, Onaya, Minnie and Vogue presented their problem and solution about a safe environment,” she said.

“Their idea was to create fidget spinners and stuffed animals to help students feel safe at school, both inside the classroom and in the yard.

“The BiZaRt Gals, Ruby, Zhai and Brahminy presented their problem about making students less anxious at school.

“The girls did this by creating a sensory board that will be hung in the library for all students to enjoy.”
