Gas leak

COUNTRY Fire Authority units were called to a gas leak in Grayland Street Cobden last Thursday.

District 6 commander Darrel Glessing said the incident occurred when an excavator pierced a gas pipe.

“We had two brigades attend – Cobden and Camperdown – as well as aerial pumper 70 from Warrnambool,” he said.

“We had eight crews there as well as aerial pumper 70.

“The gas supplier attended and crimped it (the pipe) off.”

Commander Glessing said the scene was “rendered safe pretty quickly”.

“It’s a timely reminder to dial before you dig to locate any gas or electrical mains,” he said.
