Geelong Cats visit Cobden Tech
STUDENTS at Cobden Technical School had a special opportunity last Tuesday when footballers from the Geelong Cats’ AFL and AFLW teams paid the school a visit.

The visit was part of the team’s Cats Community Camp program, where they visit schools across the district to encourage the next generation of footballers.
Ollie Dempsey, who previously attended Cobden Technical School, said he enjoyed visiting the school.
“We love coming down here and visiting schools,” he said.
“It’s a good time of year.”
He joined AFL players Oisin Mullin, Zach Guthrie, Jake Kolodjashnij and Jed Bews and AFLW players Zali Friswell and Chloe Scheer in a special question and answer session with students before heading outside for a kick.
Cobden Technical School vice principal Sarah Cook said students were very excited for the Cats to include the school in their program.
Students asked questions about football and playing in rural areas, study, extracurricular activities for players and more before attending fans presented their Geelong memorabilia for the players to sign.
“It’s not often students in small communities have access to players who play sports such as AFL,” Mrs Cook said.
“I think they were pretty excited to be able to ask questions, have some photo opportunities and get outside and have a kick-to-kick.
“They’d only just heard about it, so to see the strong uptake from students was great.
“We’d like to thank the Geelong Cats and the people who organised the visit for including us.
“We think it’s really important for our students have these opportunities.”
