Generous donation
THE Terang Aged Care Trust has made an $11,000 donation to support aged care residents in Terang as the committee behind the trust reshuffles to ensure its generous efforts continue long in to the future.

Last week members of the Terang Aged Care Trust visited Terang’s Mount View Aged Care Facility to make the donation, which Terang and Mortlake Health Service (TMHS) chief executive officer Julia Ogdin said would be used to purchase mattresses which heighten resident comfort and health outcomes.
“TMHS are thrilled to receive an $11,000 donation from the Terang Aged Care Trust,” she said.
“The money will be used towards the purchase of new air mattresses for our Mt View Aged Care residents.
“Air mattresses have an approximate life span of five years, and the donation means that we are able to replace our ageing mattresses, ensuring ongoing effective care and comfort for our residents.”
In recent months the Terang Aged Care Trust has been working to separate itself from Terang Aged Care Future – a steering committee advocating for a retirement village and a new residential aged care centre to be developed in Terang.
The Terang Aged Care Trust is a philanthropic group working to support the needs of existing aged care providers in Terang, which is currently only TMHS’ Mount View since the 2023 closure of May Noonan Aged Care Centre.

Among the changes has been the departure of Chris O’Connor from the Terang Aged Care Trust, who is also the chair of the Terang Aged Care Future steering committee.
Helen Kenna has taken on the responsibility of serving as the new chair for the Terang Aged Care Trust.
“Chris O’Connor was instrumental in establishing the trust and has been its chair since inception until his recent resignation,” she said.
“The trust committee wishes to recognise and express its gratitude to Chris for his longevity and commitment to this role.”
The trust will continue its philanthropic work under Mrs Kenna alongside treasurer John Keane, secretary Ken Davey, and members Geoff Barby, Eve Black, Gary Marr, Don Treloar and Frank Riordan.
“Monies bequeathed to the trust are kept in perpetuity and the interest is utilised for aged care needs within the Terang and Mortlake area,” Mrs Kenna said.
“Since its inception, $74,000 has been donated for purchases such as pressure reduction mattresses for Mount View residents, a new oven for the Terang campus kitchen and items for the Mount View garden.
“Community members are encouraged to consider the trust in their wills to help ensure an ongoing focus on aged care needs in to the future.”
