Get ready to Spring into Summer next week

CAMPERDOWN and District Community House is gearing up for its inaugural Spring into Summer mini-festival.

By wd-news

The free event will see a variety of stallholders gather at APEX Park at 293 Manifold Street on Saturday, November 30 for a day celebrating local produce and craft.

The mini-festival will run from 10am-2pm, with a variety of activities for people of all ages to enjoy.

Camperdown and District Community House co-ordinator Emily Mercer said the mini-festival aims to bring people together and celebrate community and sustainability at a local level.

“There will be a variety of activities and entertainment on the day, including facepainting and music from local band the Twa Bards,” she said.

“There will be a small market of local produce, locally made goods including jewellery, plants, crochet crafts and more.

“You will be able to engage in a variety of craft activities - with our local pottery studio, you will be able to make your own mushroom ornament for only $10, and your ornament will be fired for you at the studio for collection at a later date.

“You will be able to paint your own terracotta pot with Kim from Innerbloom, and make your own beautiful butterfly using only recycled paper with Merle and friends from community house.”

Other drawcards included a featured produce vendor with locally-grown vegetables and fruits, a variety of wares available at the onsite market, a number of food vendors, and a barbecue run by the Camperdown Lions club.

“There will be a series of small interactive talks in the community garden throughout the day, covering topics from gardening for wellbeing to pollinator plants and soil health,” Ms Mercer said.

“APEX Park is such a wonderful space and we can’t wait to share this event with you there.”
