TIMBOON Golf Club members played stroke for the second and third rounds of the Timboon championships over the weekend.
In the Saturday daily competition,division one was won by Darren Smith with nett 71 while division two was won by Craig Saunders with nett 67.
Nearest the pins: 5th Steve Plozza, 7th Darren Smith, 10th Heather Finlayson and 14th Jamie Norton.
The Nutrien ball on the 11th was won by John Bertram and the South West Car Care ball on the 13th by Finn Castledine.
In the Sunday daily competition, the division one monthly medal was won by Steve Plozza with nett 69.
The division two monthly medal was won by Bill Finlayson with nett 66.
Nearest the pins: 5th Steve Plozza, 7th Norm Hardingham, 10th John Bertram and 14th Jamie Norton.
The Nutrien ball on the 11th was won by John Bertram and Kevin Plozza scored an eagle on the 17th hole.
Standings after the third round are:
A grade - A. Gillin (223), P. Cashmore (237), N. Gowland (239) and M. Walker (249)
B grade - S. Plozza (249), G. Norton (262), T. Ziegelaar (264) and J. Costin (267).
C grade - D. Beames (265), M. McKenzie (269), B. Finlayson (277) and N. Hardingham (285).
D grade - A. Horwood (294), B. Ward (295), M. Smith (309) and G. Rundle (319).
This Saturday, November 18, will be the final round of the championships.
Tee times for the above qualifiers will be: D grade 10.30am, C grade 10.40am, B grade 10.50am and A grade 11.00am.
On Thursday the 12 holes Kazza’s Railway View Hotel Chicken Day was won by John Bertram with 26 points from David Gamble with 25 points. Nearest the pin was Kevin Plozza.
Last Wednesday was the first round of club championships at Timboon.
The weather was overcast but warm, with no wind, making it a perfect day for golf – and the course was in great condition.
The stroke and putting for championships (round one leaderboards) are as follows:
A grade: Mandy Dalton 82-12-70, Judy Walsh 85-12-73.
B grade: Vera Convey 95-19-76, Debbie Norton 97-20-77.
C grade: Dawn Wallace 113-31-82,
Susanne Wallace 118-30-88.
The daily competition was won by Mandy Dalton 82-12-70 with Linda McKenzie the runner-up on 99-26-73 on a countback from Judy Walsh 85-12-73.
Nearest the pins went to Linda McKenzie on the 5th and 13th, and Lynne Newton on the 7th.
