Golf keeps finals hopes alive
CAMPERDOWN Golf Magpies Bowling Club kept their finals hopes alive last Saturday with a fighting eight-shot win at Lorne.
Golf struggled to break away from Lorne all day and it was the rink skippered by Tom Spokes that saw Golf eventually bring home the win with a two rinks all, eight-shot win.
Tomorrow sees Golf travel to Colac to take on League leaders Colac 1 under the roof.
Golf is capable of causing a big upset and has nothing to lose by going there full of confidence after last Saturday’s away win.

Tom Spokes’ rink of Peter Reilly, John Molan and Jack Paasse won 32-12 against Peter Steven’s rink.
Gary Body’s rink of Chris Pearson, Ash Sinnott and Greg Molan got over the line 22-21 with Gary Body’s last bowl of the day.
Kev Conheady’s rink of Glenn Winsall, Graeme Fitzgerald and Jamie Norton went down 17-23.
Billy Conheady’s rink of Craig Skene, David Bateman and Greg Teal went down 20-27.

Camperdown Golf Magpies division two took on second-placed Winchelsea at home and came away with a magnificent 16 shot win which leaves the team just 10 points outside the top four.
Chris McLeod’s rink of Terry Place, Mark Winsall and Steve Lucas continued their winning way with a one-shot win, 21-20.
Michael Brebner’s rink of Algie White, Ro Dunstan and James Henry went down 17-28.
Paul Richard’s rink of Wayne Henry, Taj Merrett and Daryl had an 11 shot win, 28-17.
Leanne Fitzgerald’s rink of Kevin Russell, Andrew Anderson and Ray Bateman had a great 15 shot win, 28-13.
Tomorrow sees Golf 2 at home to top side Colac 2 and with their confidence sky high a win at home is not beyond them.

Camperdown Golf 3 division four team had another big win against a team in the top four, Winchelsea, and scored a 29-shot win at home.
Rene Wyles’ team of Janet Molan, Liz Riches and Noelene Tolland were once again winners on the day, 24-13.
Peter James’s rink of Carol Wilson, Trey Darcy and Thomas Henry were not far behind with a 16 shot win, 32 to 16.
Pam Place’s rink of Mick Mahony, Greg Edwards and George Bateman were on their game all day to score an11 shot win, 24-13.
Garry Brian’s rink of John O’Donohue, Val Coverdale and Elaine Waterfall completed the trifecta of wins with a seven shot win, 26-19.
The win sees Golf 3 retain top spot on the ladder by 18 points from Cobden.
Tomorrow sees the grudge match between the two Golf teams and a close match is expected.

Carol Wilson’s rink of John Salau, Keira Johnston and Ella Blyth fought hard all day to go down 10-16.
New skipper Isaac Winsall had his first win as a skipper with Dan Stewart, Barney Dickson and Andrew Whiteside winning 26-15.
Denis Place’s rink of Gary Mitchell, Thomas Henry and Trey Darcy went down 11-19.
Tomorrow sees Golf 4 at home to Golf 3 and a win is on the cards.

Mid-week competition continued last Tuesday with division one taking on third placed Winchelsea at home and going down by the barest of margins, one shot.
Rene Wyles’ rink of Michael Brebner, Barb Boyd, and John O’Donohue went down 16-29.
Leanne Fitzgerald’s rink of Peter Reilly, John Molan and Noelene Tolland had a good win, 30-14.
Janet Molan’s rink of Gary Body, Greg Teal and Elaine Waterfall went down 18-22.
Next Tuesday the team will be at home to Colac 1 and a tough match is expected.

Carol Wilson’s rink of Peter James, Kell Edwards and Lois Johnson fought hard all day to go down by 13 shots, 19-32.
Liz Riches’ rink of Garry Brian, Ella Blyth and Val Coverdale had a one shotwin, 20-19.
This Tuesday sees division three have the bye.
Duty team is Rene Wyles.
