Golfers enjoy tournament
CAMPERDOWN Golf Club held a two-day event last weekend to make up for the 2022 tournament which was cancelled due to wet weather last November.

CAMPERDOWN Golf Club held a two-day event last weekend to make up for the 2022 tournament which was cancelled due to wet weather last November.
There was a 4BBB competition for men and women on Saturday and a four player ambrose event on Sunday for men, women and mixed teams.
The course was in excellent condition and both days were well supported by local golfers, with 56 players on Saturday and 88 on Sunday.
Saturday 4BBB results:
A countback was required to decide the winners of the women's 4BBB competition.
Gabby Gill (23) and Leah Cheeseman (27) were victorious with 45 points, edging out Jenny Hillman (21) and Deb Narik (24) in the home straight.
In an extraordinary coincidence the men's competition was won by Simon Gill (24) and Darren Cheeseman (5) with 47 points.
Murray Fry (13) and Geoff Webber (26) were runners-up with 42 points.
Nearest the pin (men): 2nd Troy Stephens, 9th Jeremy Baker, 15th Gary Thomson and 17th Norm Tonks.
Nearest the pin (women): 2nd Judy Walsh (Timboon), 15th Marion Venn (Terang) and 17th Jenny Meade (Terang).
Balls down the line: 42 points - Liz Fry and Ros Brauer, Mark Kent and Gary Lafferty, Alex Gubbins and Ben Cramp; 41 points - Emily Stephens and Mel Fox, Bernie Sinnott and Col Keane, Jeremy Baker and Mark Fitzgerald, Jen Downie and Maree Finlay.
Sunday’s ambrose results:
The men's ambrose event was won by a formidable team from Terang Golf Club.
George Beasley, Josh Brown, Tony Kenna and Nick Marshall shot an outstanding score of 59 (3 2/8) 55 3/4 net.
Local pride was preserved with the Camperdown team of Gary Lafferty, Phil Hughes, Rick Carr, and Mark Kent carding a fine 64 (6 6/8) 57 1/4 net to finish runners-up.
A Terang team also claimed the mixed event.
Riley Scanlon, Sharee Scanlon, Anthony Kavenagh and young Leo Beasley won with 63 (5 6/8) 57 2/8 net.
The Camperdown ladies held the fort with a win in the women's event.
Mel Fox, Leah Cheeseman, Emily Stephens and Andrea Hughes had a great day and a good win with 73 (13 3/8) 59 5/8.
