Good Friday Appeal ready to roll
VOLUNTEERS will be out in force tomorrow to raise money for the annual Good Friday Appeal.

VOLUNTEERS will be out in force tomorrow to raise money for the annual Good Friday Appeal.
The appeal raises funds each year for The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, with over $421 million raised since 1931.
Some of the region’s youngest will be out in force across Terang and Noorat, as the Noorat Scouts travel door-to-door to shake the tins for a good cause.
Good Friday Appeal area manager Rob Rowe said he was looking forward to a big year as the team operates out of the Terang Civic Hall from 9am, and hoped volunteers could give up some time to support the effort.
“We need as many volunteers from the community as possible to come and give us a hand,” he said.
“Many hands make light work and we would like to get it done as quick as we can so everyone can spend Easter with their families.
“We’d love to see families come down and give us a hand.”
Mr Rowe said efforts last year had been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the young scouts and community rallied to ensure the year was a success.
“We had some great volunteers who stepped in at the last minute to make last year a success, and this year we will have a full contingent of cubs, scouts, joeys and parents ready to go,” he said.
“This volunteering will go towards their scouting badgework, every time they volunteer towards the community it does, so it is an opportunity for them to give back.”
Any volunteers wanting to lend a hand for the Good Friday Appeal are invited to come down on the day and sign up at the Terang Civic Centre, giving as much or as little time as they can.
In Mortlake, Good Friday Appeal area manager Wendy McKenzie has again taken the reigns in organising the Good Friday Appeal for the town.
“We’ve had a range of collection tins throughout town as it will be difficult to go door-to-door without volunteers,” she said.
“But having some people put their hand up to volunteer would greatly help increase how much of the town we can get to,” she said.
“People who would like to volunteer for the door-to-door collection on Friday, starting from 9.30am and finishing around lunch time, are welcome to contact me on 0419 576 309.
“There are a couple of other options to donate; people can scan our QR code, donate in tins at shops around town, call Good Friday Appeal directly or visit the website.”
