Good scores from veteran golfers
THIRTY-one veteran golfers competed in an event at Lake Bolac late last month.
For the first time in four outings, the weather turned it on, providing perfect conditions for golf.
Congratulations to the Lake Bolac club for an outstanding course; the greens were in top shape and the new surrounds will be second to none.
Results from the day:
A grade – winner Trevor Gardner (Cobden) on 36, runner-up Graeme Stewart (Lake Bolac) 35, followed by Peter Gubbins (Camperdown) 34.
NAGA was Ken Stanesby (Birregurra).
B grade – winner Garry Lafferty (Camperdown) 40, runner-up Daryl Johnstone (Terang) 36, followed by Colin Venn (Terang) 34.
NAGA Rod Batson (Winchelsea) on 20.
Nearest the pins: 2/11 John Hoiles (Birregurra – golden hole), 8/17 Colin Venn (Terang), 9/18 Steve Douglas (Camperdown).
Upcoming events: Monday, September 8 at the Terang Golf Club; 9.30am rally for 10am shotgun start.
Monday, September 22 at Colac Golf Club for the Corangamite v Geelong Challenge; 9.30am rally for 10am shotgun start.
For the Colac event members are asked to register their names with their club’s liaison officer. Names due by Monday, September 9.
Fifty-six players are booked for the Geelong event.
Corangamite Veterans Golf welcomes all players over the age of 55 who have a Golf Australia Handicap.
