Grand final awaits bowlers
COBDEN Bowling Club’s division three side has earned itself a place in this weekend’s grand final.
The team lost to Colac Lakes in last year’s grand final and will now be eager to bring home a flag when it faces the tough City 2 side at Colac Lakes this weekend.
Last weekend’s preliminary finals for the Corangamite Playing Area 2024/25 season brought mixed results for the Cobden club, with only one of its three teams making the grand final.

Bert Strampel, Pat Hickey, Jeff Hester and Brian Howard lost 11-21 to A. Swayn, S. Ackerley, G. Langenhauizen and M. Gass.
Trevor Roberts, Colin Whiteside, Kath Spokes and Jim O’Shea won 24-10 over B. Newcombe, B. Newcombe, A. Beasy and B. Newcombe.

Cobden was defeated on all rinks in division four by Lorne to lose 47-62.
Claire Reynolds, Loreign Andrews, Don Anderson and Des Couch lost 19-25 to P. Barraclough, D. Lawlor, K. Heathcote and K. McCombe.

Joy Beaton, Evelyn Grayland, John Raeside and Ken Farquharson marginally lost to K. Lugg, J. Bliss, D. Issell and J. Purdie 13-15.
It was a good effort by division four to make the preliminary final as the team had hovered around fourth and fifth position on the ladder for most of the season.
