THERE was some special silverware at Cobdenhealth last week.

Cobden export and Geelong Cats star Gary Rohan took time to visit residents at Cobdenhealth for a football themed luncheon.

He also brought along the 2022 AFL premiership cup to show residents, much to their delight.

Cobdenhealth leisure and lifestyle co-ordinator Sue Loving said the luncheon was a success.

“We had a special guest in Gary Rohan who’s been around and chatted with the residents,” she said.

“It (the visit) was a surprise to his grandmother, Shirley, who is a resident here.”

Ms Loving said as well as Mr Rohan’s visit, residents enjoyed a lunch with hot dogs and pies on the menu.

She said the dining room had also been decked out for the occasion with football memorabilia and decorations.

“Thank you to the Cobden Football Netball Club for loaning us the use of their gear for the day,” Ms Loving said.

Mr Rohan said he was pleased to be able to spend time at Cobdenhealth last Tuesday while surprising his grandmother.

“I know a lot of the residents from when I was growing up,” he said.

“It’s good to come back and put some smiles on faces.

“I brought the premiership cup down to show it off with permission from the club.”
