A STRONG crowd of 16 players enjoyed a beautiful spring day for the last round of championships at Lismore golf.

It was great to see so many on the course.

Tom Brett put out another consistent score (82) to win the A grade championship.

Ricky Vagg put the pressure on all day, and was able to get within one stroke at one stage to make for a great contest.

A brilliant birdie putt on the par five 13th made it a bridge too far, and Tom pulled away to a four-stroke overall lead. Well done Tom.

In the B grade, crowd favorite Ross ‘Blue’ Marquand took out the win convincingly from Luke Brain.

Blue didn’t break the famous 300, but by the looks of his grin from ear to ear, he’ll be enjoying telling this story of his win for years to come. Well done Blue.

In the C grade, the daily four-hour practice routine by Clint Dudman through the week paid dividends, with Scotty Walker succumbing to the pressure.

It’s been an intriguing tussle between the two new members with not much in it.

Well done to Clint for taking out the win.

It was great to see about 25 members at the presentations, trading the day’s stories of great shots and shanks and what could have been.

Thanks to Pete Nicol from the Fairway Cafe for providing a delicious tea.

Daily handicap results:

The winner of the Geoff Skene memorial trophy, which is awarded for the best net score from the last round of championships, was Luke Brain with a 99-26-73.

Runner-up on countback was Clint Dudman with 102-28-74.

Third was Ricky Vagg with 81-7-74.

The closest third (1st hole) was Ricky Vagg, while nearest the pins went to Tom Brett on the 5th and Andrew Stewart on the 9th.

Thanks to everyone who contributed over the past three weeks.

We look forward to many more bigger and better championships in the future. New members are always welcome.
