THOUSANDS of cyclists passed through Camperdown on Monday as part of the Great Victorian Bike Ride.

The ride started in Koroit on November 26 before stopping in Noorat on Sunday and Timboon on Monday night.

Bicycle Network chief executive officer Alison McCormack said the visit to the area was “fantastic”.

“We’re in luxury in Timboon, the oval is in pristine condition,” she said.

“We’ve got the music going, the stalls are here and we’re shuttling people into townas well.

“We’re really spruiking what’s on in Timboon.”

Ms McCormack said the cyclists enjoyed a morning tea stop in Camperdown on Monday.

She said this year’s event had attracted about 2500 participants which range in age from 17 months to an 85 year old who makes the trip from Alice Springs each year.

“It’s a great event; we have people of all ages,” Ms McCormack said.

“We have a few families with three generations also.”

Ms McCormack thanked the community for being so welcoming.
