Greavesys eyeing national recognition
GREAVESYS Fruit N Veg has been named finalists in a competition which will see family-businesses vying for recognition on national television.

Store owner Cassie Greaves admited she thought she may be getting scammed when she received an e-mail from a producer informing her Greavesys Fruit N Veg was a finalist in the Australia’s Favourite Family Businesses competition.
The competition is part of television show Kochie’s Business Builders, which explores ways to support small and medium-sized businesses.
“It’s fantastic – and so kind for someone to have nominated us,” Mrs Greaves said.
“When we initially got the e-mail, I thought we were being scammed.
“It was so random but it’s lovely someone thought of us.
“Being nominated alone is incredible because it is already being promoted nationally so we’re already so grateful.”
The winner in this year’s competition will receive a $48,000 media package.
The package includes a feature segment on the nationally-broadcast Koshie’s Business Builders, a social media boost across the show’s channels, a website article and professional social videos and photography showcasing the business.

Mrs Greaves said she hoped the wider community would be willing to take the time to vote as promotion on such a large scale would support all local business.
“There is no limit so you can vote as many times as you want,” she said.
“It is our store which would be promoted if we were to win but it puts Terang on the map.
“We’re a small town so everyone would benefit from that.
“The recognition wouldn’t be just for us, but for every local store which we stock on our shelves as well.
“Cross-promotion in a small community supports everyone – especially when Terang is one of the few towns which has everything without a Woolworths or a Coles – we’ve got a butcher, baker and grocer so people can support local without having to leave town.”
Business Builders editor Cec Busby said the quality of this year’s entries was exceptional.
“Every year, we’re amazed by the sheer talent, creativity and determination that shines through these businesses,” she said.
“We’ve got everything from multigenerational family farms and boutique wineries to tradies, travel operators and even a zoo.
“The calibre this year is off the charts, and it’s a brilliant reminder of just how central family businesses are to Aussie life.”
Ms Busby said the competition showcased the modern diversity seen among family-run businesses.
“It’s not just mums and dads behind the counter anymore,” she said.
“We’re seeing siblings, cousins, grandparents and even kids rolling up their sleeves to make it work.
“That kind of dedication deserves to be recognised.”
