Greavesy’s makes a state-wide mark

GREAVESY’S Fruit & Veg has toppled some of the biggest fresh food retailers in Victoria to be named Victoria’s fourth favourite fruit and vegetable retailer.
The recognition was earned through ABetter Choice’s Retailer of the Year, People’s Choice Awards.
A Better Choice is Australia’s nationalbrand supporting independent greengrocers, and educating consumers on why buying produce is a better choice for quality, freshness of produce and customer service.
Almost 6000 Victorians had the opportunity to nominate their favourite fruit and veg shop in the awards, with over 150 grocers nominated across the state.
Greavesy’s Fruit & Veg co-owner Jason Greaves said the result highlighted the impact small businesses can make.
“It’s a great feeling to be recognised, and a surprising one because we’re only small”he said.
“It’s unbelievable because some of those shops we were up against are huge, and we’re tiny in comparison.
“Some of them have also been around for more than 100 years.”
While a small retailer in Terang lacks the clientele of larger metropolitan retailers, Mr Greaves said the success showed the loyalty and support of local shoppers.
“Our customer count compared to some of those bigger retailers is 100 to one,” he said.
“It’s really good knowing we have that support.”
A Better Choice state program co-ordinator Zac Egan congratulated Cassie and Jason Greaves, and the team at Greavesy’s, on their well-earned recognition.
“It’s an incredible testament to this family-owned business, which competed against many other major retailers from Melbourne,” he said.
“Earlier this year one lucky customer even walked away with a $500 holiday voucher for nominating Greavesy’s as their favourite fruit and veg shop.
