Green awash with pink
THE Cobden greens were awash with shades of pink last week as lady golfers enjoyed three days of competition.

The ‘Week of Golf’ events attracted strong fields from Monday through to Wednesday.
Monday’s Cobden Cup was hotly contested, with Marion Venn, Heather Walcott and Kathy Jenkins taking the win on 95 points on countback from Sandra Mason, Janine Stevens and Di Adams.
The individual A grade winner was Nellie Cash-more with 34 points, while Leanne Ritchie was runner-up on 33.
B grade was won by Sandra Mason on 34 points, from Chloe Healey on 33.
Nearest the pins: 4th Thelma Inverarity (visitors) and Chloe Healey (club), 7th Cate Glennon (visitor) and 10th Tania Heaphy (visitor).
The straightest drive went to Sandra Mason with 31cm.
On Tuesday the ladies contested a four-person ambrose.
This was won by Glenda Clarke, Debbie Fitzgibbon, Sue Walter and Carrie Skeen on 62 points.
The runners-up were Trish Sullivan, Judy Carmody, Kate Cornelissen and Alison Sinclair on 66.
Handicap winners were Debbie Rix, Lauren Higgins, Sue Henderson and Maria O’Rourke on 58.75 points from runners-up Deb Ferrari, Sandra Mason, Julie Simmonds and Raylene Hallyburton on 59.
Nearest the pins: 4th Maureen Clemens (visitor) and Ellen Darcy (Cobden), 7th Donna Weller (visitor) and Deb Ferrari (Cobden) and 10th Lauren Higgins (visitor).
The straightest drive, with 10cm, was Linda McKenzie.
Last Thursday’s 4BBB stableford was won by Carmel Darcy and Deb Ferrari on 48 points from Ellen Darcy and Judy Myers, 48 on countback from third-placed Netty Hose and Ev Boyd.
The best nine in was Sue Henderson and Barb Hill (26) while the best nine out went to Linda McKenzie and Sophie Bowker (25) on countback from Netty Hose and Ev Boyd.
Nearest the pins: 4th Annie Carol (visitor) and Kate Parlour (Cobden), 7th Kathy Burl (visitor) and Carmel (Cobden), 10th Cate Glennon (visitor).
The straightest drive went to Jo McKenzie.
