CAMPERDOWN’S Girl Guides opened up their hall for a special garage sale over the weekend.

The Girl Guides ran the garage sale as a fundraiser to help cover the costs of running the hall and included a variety of items for sale.

Guide leader Glenda McIlveen said the group had lots of things kept in storage from recent years and decided to get it all out.

“A lot of other people said they had some things to get rid of, so we thought we’d have a garage sale during the fine weather,” she said.

“I want to thank all the people that pulled up with their donations of boxes of books and children’s toys and clothes.

“It was wonderful.”

The garage sale raised around $1590 for the guide hall, which also included sales of raffle tickets.

A raffle was held on the day, with the fruit prize donated by Ritchies IGA Camperdown.

Raffle winners were Evelyn, Ezra and Carolynne, who each won a fruit and vegetable hamper.

Tickets were also sold for a second raffle, with sales expected to continue over the coming weeks.

Ms McIlveen said tickets for the second raffle can be purchased through families involved with Girl Guides.

The raffle will be drawn on Monday, October 16.

Ms McIlveen said she also wished to extend her thanks to all those involved with the sale.

“Thank you to those people who donated goods to us, and the guide parents that did all the work setting up and cleaning up,” she said.

What wasn’t sold at the garage sale was donated to the St Vincent de Paul Op Shop.
