CAMPERDOWN’S Girl Guides worked towards their community service badge through a fundraising sale in Manifold Street over the past fortnight, selling daffodils to keep their guide hall running.

The organisation, which has started back up after a COVID recess, held a stall near Camperdown Newsagency on Saturday over the past two weeks.

Daffodils, donated by the Manifold and Menzies families, were sold at $5 a bunch and managed to raise around $700 to cover running costs for the guide hall.

Guide leader Glenda McIlveen said the daffodils were part of abundant gardens at this time of year.

“The Manifold family and the Menzies family had donated the daffodils from their gardens, so we can use them to sell there,” she said.

“Everyone loves a happy daffodil.”

Ms McIlveen extended her gratitude towards the community for theur support of the fundraiser.

“Especially the people who donated all the daffodils, who were Paul Trebble, and Marion and Edward Manifold, and John and Carolyn Menzies,” she said.

“It’s really wonderful and amazing. It was incredible; people were very generous, and it was great.

“We can actually afford to keep the guide hall working, so that’s good.”
