The Graeme Good Centre was full to capacity this week as Mortlake College students presented The Lion King Jr.

The students were all smiles after a well-deserved rapturous applause as the college put their twist on the Disney classic in front of a packed house of family, friends, peers from other schools and members of the wider community on Monday.

Production director Geoff De Manser said the stellar performances had been the culmination of a lot of hard work and dedication from the students.

“They’ve done really well,” he said.

“They put in a lot of work on this and over the last couple of weeks they have really come up.

“Every time they perform they get a little better, so they improvement has been really good.”

Mr De Manser praised the efforts of all involved, particularly those behind the scenes who made it all possible.

“We’re really lucky to have a wonderful, collaborative team here,” he said.

“From the set designers through to the make up and costumes, each time we bring together the overall vision it gets a little bit easier.

“It’s been a really good example of how we all work to bring it together.

“We also have a really wonderful group of parent volunteers which is good.”

Mr De Manser said it was a highlight for parents and family to have the opportunity to see the burgeoning talent on display at the college.

“It’s good for them to come and see their kids performing, and to see how fantastic they’ve done,” he said.
