RUNNERS and walkers alike helped to celebrate a special milestone in Timboon over the weekend.

Timboon parkrun turned two on Saturday, with more than 40 people turning out to mark the occasion.

Event director Donna Ellis said the day was well attended, despite the cold weather conditions.

“We had 39 people participate and nine volunteers on the day,” she said.

“We had visitors from all over the place including Mount Gambier, Queensland and Melbourne.

“It was a really good day.”

Ms Ellis thanked the community for continuing to support the weekly event which is for runners, joggers and walkers.

“It was nice for everyone to come and celebrate with us,” she said.

“We’re looking forward to the next year and keeping on doing what we do.”

Parkrun is a volunteer run weekly event and without the support of the more than 160 individuals who have volunteered their time at Timboon parkrun, it would not be possible.

To register for parkrun visit www.parkrun.com.au.

Timboon parkrun begins at 8am sharp each Saturday, with event briefing from 7.45am.

Timboon parkrun is held on the Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail, taking in a 2.5 kilometre out-and-back loop starting beneath the Timboon Senior Citizens Centre.
