Event director Kate Makin said the birthday celebrations were a success with about 50 people taking part, the majority of whom arrived dressed in their pyjamas.

“We were delighted to have Amanda from Athletes Foot in Warrnambool showcase some of their latest shoe offerings, allowing participants to experience them firsthand before making a purchase,” she said.

“The event featured an abundance of party food, including a specially made cake courtesy of Mandi Poustie.

“The morning was filled with fun and social interaction, with visitors from Sydney joining in on the festivities.”

Mrs Makin encouraged the wider community to attend the free weekly event.

“As we are all aware, parkrun caters to individuals of all ages and fitness levels, promoting health and well-being while fostering a sense of community through casual conversation and enjoyment of the trail’s offerings,” she said.

Since starting more than seven years ago now, more than 1900 people have completed the five-kilometre course.

The event is entirely volunteer led, with 240 volunteers contributing their time to make the event possible.

Parkrun is free and you only need to register once, to register for parkrun visit www.parkrun.com.au/register/ and print out your barcode or save it on your phone.
