Have your say on Moyne’s 2024 budget

THE process to prepare Moyne Shire Council’s annual budget is underway, with feedback being sought.

Moyne Shire Council has opened a community survey for the public to provide their thoughts on where funding should be allocated when the next budget is delivered in 2024.

At November’s Ordinary Meeting of Council the budget process for 2024/25 was outlined – highlighting how the community could get involved.

Moyne Shire mayor Ian Smith said the community survey would be open until early January.

“Preparation of the budget is a balancing act of prioritising financial resources to deliver projects, services and programs that meet the community’s needs,” he said.

“We have four pillars identified in our Council Plan and we are asking the community to tell us which of those they think we should focus on.

“We can use that information to determine the resources required to help us deliver a wide range of services - now and in the future.”

Cr Smith said the community survey could be completed on council’s new online platform, Engage Moyne, or a hard copy is available through Customer Service until January 5, 2024.

From there council officers will prepare the draft budget which will be presented at the April 2024 Ordinary Meeting of Council and then open for community feedback.

The final budget will be presented to councillors for adoption at the June Ordinary Meeting of Council.
