Have your say on Terang’s long-term development
CORANGAMITE Shire Council is seeking feedback from the communities on plans to shape the future of the shire’s two biggest towns.
The Draft Camperdown Structure Plan and Draft Terang Structure Plan are now available for public feedback.
The documents serve as the long-term plans which will guide and shape each community over the next 15-20 years to manage and facilitate change within the towns.
Corangamite Shire Council mayor councillor Kate Makin said the long-term plans were aimed at helping each town thrive.
“They provide guidance on how to manage change in ways that reflect what the communities want their towns to be,” she said.
“How can land be used? What facilities and infrastructure are needed? What challenges need to be overcome and what opportunities are there to make the most of?
“The structure plans consider how to grow business and tourism opportunities and respond to the challenges of housing supply, access and safety, attracting young families and the effects of climate change.”
Cr Makin said the drafts were developed after community consultation in February and March.
“Residents contributed to developing a clear vision of their hometown’s character,” she said.
“Camperdown is a vibrant, walkable town that celebrates its picturesque setting and heritage, offering diverse housing, strong services and a thriving, sustainable economy for all generations.
“Terang is a welcoming, connected town that values heritage and inclusivity, balancing growth with preservation and supporting all ages through housing, services and a thriving economy.”
Cr Makin encouraged community members to read the plans and give their feedback by Tuesday, July 8.
“The Consultation Summary Reports and Draft Structure Plans are available at www.corangamite.vic.gov.au/ctsp,” she said.
“You can also come along to one of the drop-in sessions to find out more and give feedback, fill in an online survey, or send a formal submission to planning@corangamite.vic.gov.au.”
A drop-in session will be held at the Terang Civic Hall, 129 High Street, on Thursday, June 19 from 2.30-5.30pm.
Two sessions will also be held in Camperdown at the Civic Centre, 181 Manifold Street, on Thursday, June 19 from 6.30-8.30pm and at the Killara Centre, 210-212 Manifold Street, on Friday, June 20 from 9-11am.
