Health Service to host a fun night for farmers
TERANG and Mortlake Health Service will this week host an evening in which family fun and live-saving knowledge will combine.

This Friday evening the Noorat Recreation Reserve will be home to the ‘Farmer and Family Fun Night’ in a bid to give families a free evening which is all about community, care and connection.
Terang and Mortlake Health Service health promotion officer Michelle Dowden said the concept would look to provide multi-faceted benefit through social enjoyment while also providing information and resources which can prove vital for farmers.
“The Kolora Noorat Football Club will host an exciting Farmer Family Fun Day on December 5,” she said.
“The goal is to bring local families together for a much-needed mix of connection, learning and entertainment.”
The evening will include health information and checks with a registered nurse, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation demonstrations led by Ambulance Victoria and snake bite education, with kits available for just $5.
Intertwined with the importance of the information and resources presented during the evening, there will also be a barbecue dinner, a visit from Santa, kid-friendly games and activities and drinks available for purchase.
Ms Dowden said she believed the evening would provide something for everyone in a relaxed setting.
“After what has been an enormously challenging year for farmers, marked by drought and ongoing pressures on the land, the day will also highlight the importance of checking in with one another through Let’s Talk conversations,” she said.
“There will be practical demonstrations – including snake-bite first aid, CPR, and defibrillator use – will help build confidence in emergency response for those living and working rurally.
“With Steve ‘Stretch’ Teakle keeping the crowd entertained as master of ceremonies and a special visit from Santa Claus, the event promises warmth, support, and festive fun for farming families of all ages.”
