Heavy loss for Bloods

ROUND 11 of the Hampden League senior football competition saw Terang Mortlake have its heaviest loss of the season.


Portland led at every change to record a 17.11.113 to 8.10.58 win at Hanlon Park.

Captain Joe Arundell led the possession getters for the Bloods with 37, including 24 kicks and 13 handballs.

Others to get plenty of the ball were Ryley Hutchins with 30 disposals, coach Lewy Taylor with 28, defender Gus Bourke with 25 and Alex Moloney with 23.

Key forward Will Kain was the only multiple goal kicker with two.

Going into the mid-season break, Terang Mortlake sits in third place on eight wins and three losses, equal on points with second-placed Koroit and a game ahead of fourth placed Portland.

The next game for the Bloods is on July 11 against Cobden at the Terang Recreation Reserve.

Portland had a massive win in the reserves, 23.15.153 to 0.2.2.

Best for the Bloods in the loss were Damien Goddard, Cameron Goddard and Mackenzie Mann.

The under 18 football was a tight contest, Portland scoring a 6.8.44 to 4.16.40 win.

Sam Wareham, Caleb Bamford, Hamish Molan and Levi Meade were best for Terang Mortlake, with Bamford kicking two goals.

Terang Mortlake scored a 7.5.57 to 4.9.33 win in the under 16 game.

Hugh Kenna, Arlo Herry and Max Slater were best for the Bloods in the win, Herry kicking three goals with two each to Ollie Clarke and Liam Kenna.

In the under 14 game at Henty Park, Terang Mortlake had a 14.8.92 to 2.1.13 win.

Nate Irving, Ollie Clarke, Zac Clarke, Darcy Meade and Leo Slater were best for the Bloods, Irving kicking four goals, with three to Zac Clarke and two to Slater.

The under 12 football saw a 6.10.46 to 1.2.8 win for Portland.

Maximus Timms, Lewi Baker, Louis Annett and Nelson Sloane were best for Terang Mortlake, with Harry Keogh kicking the lone goal.

In the final round of the women’s football at the DC Farran Oval on Sunday, Tyrendarra scored a resounding 13.11.89 to 1.0.6 win over Terang Mortlake.

Best for the Bloods were Morgan Edge, Matilda Narik and Elle Mahony, with Chloe Gaut kicking the only goal.

The Terang Mortlake women finished the season in sixth place.

In the final round of the under 18 women’s football, Terang Mortlake had a 7.3.45 to 0.2.2 win over Port Fairy.

Matilda Narik, Nikaiah Murfett and Elle Mahony were best, with Narik, Mahony and Chloe Clifford kicking two goals each.

The under 18 women also missed the finals, finishing the season in fifth place.

In the Open netball, Terang Mortlake recorded a 49-37 win.

Lyla Grundy, Mckenzie Dillon and Ava Grundy were best for the Bloods, with Grundy shooting 34 goals and Jacqui Arundell 13.

The division one game saw Portland win 47-30.

Best for Terang Mortlake were Bailee Overweter, Charli Dillon and Maddison Chesshire, with Chesshire shooting 12 goals and Holly Fowler 11.

The division two game ended with a 40-28 win to Terang Mortlake.

Ava Nolan, Hannah Burke and Caitlin Overweter were best for the Bloods, with Nolan scoring 31 goals.

Portland took out the division three netball with a 28-26 win, Debbie Worland and Sophie Conheady best for the Bloods.

The 17 and under game saw Terang Mortlake score a strong 60-19 win.

Lila Bennett, Ava Conheady and Mckenzie Dillon were best for Terang Mortlake, with Lyla Grundy shooting 38 goals and Madelyn Clarke 14.

There was no game for the 17 and under reserves with Portland not fielding a team.

Portland was too strong in the 15 and under game, winning 40-19.

Best in the loss for Terang Mortlake were Mia Baker, Tilly Harrison and Meg Nolan, with Chloe Bouchier shooting 11 goals and Sadie Baker eight.

The 15 and under reserves game saw Portland win 30-28.

Francesca Rickard, Tilly Harrison and Isabella Robertson were best for Terang Mortlake, with Robertson shooting 16 goals and Poppy Moloney 12.

The 13 and under game saw Terang Mortlake register a big 53-12 win.

Daisy Dillon, Audrey Vaughan and Charli Jones were best for the Bloods, with Imogen Barr shooting 44 goals.

The 13 and under reserves netball also went the way of Terang Mortlake who scored 38-6 win.

Kora Wines, Taliah Church and Zarli Dower were Terang Mortlake's best, with Daisy Sargeant shooting 25 goals and Charlotte Boshier 13.
