Help reopen the region’s indoor pool

COBDENHEALTH with the Friends of Rodney Grove Pool and Gym (FORG) have announced the launch of their fundraising appeal to raise funds for the maintenance and ongoing costs of the pool in order to open the pool to the public again.

The heated pool at the Rodney Grove Aquatic Centre in Cobden has been used by residents across the region, including Terang and Noorat, as the only public heated indoor swimming pool between Colac and Warrnambool.

For many residents it was their only means of effective exercise and physiotherapy, but soaring costs forced the closure of the asset in late 2025.

After ongoing pleas from the community for the asset to be maintained and reopened, a new fundraising concept has been launched to draw on the community for support.

“Donations are tax deductible and can be made through the Cobdenhealth website, www.cobdenhealth.org.au,” FORG committee member Lesley Brown said.

“Friends of Rodney Grove have been actively raising funds with $6000 raised so far.

“We have a raffle now with prizes of an original painting by Debbie Banks, a $200 voucher for picture framing, a crocheted rug and a wine and chocolate hamper.

“The Cobden Post Office are running a chocolate drive with 40 boxes already sold and more on the way.

“We also have several items offered which we will raffle or auction at a larger event to be decided.

“We will be selling raffle tickets at Ritchies Cobden this coming Friday so come in and say hello and help us raise the funds to open our pool.”
