POPULAR tourist destination in Cobden – Heytesbury House Bed and Breakfast – has been announced as semi finalists in a state-wide competition.
Business owners Andrew and Kathryn Stubbings were thrilled to not only be listed as a semi finalist, but to have been anonymously nominated in the first place.
“We’re feeling honoured and surprised with the nomination,” Mrs Stubbings said.
“We’ve never contested these awards before.
“It’s pretty exciting.”
The Cobden business was one of 10 nominations to be announced as semi finalists in the Regional Development Victoria Business Achievement Award last Friday.
Mr Stubbings was pleased with the nomination.
“I was really surprised, it’s a broader based award than we’ve previously been nominated for,” he said.
“After the year we’ve had with COVID, it’s a little ray of sunshine.”
Mrs Stubbings agreed and said the pair was looking forward to the awards night.
“It’s nice to have something positive to think about and that someone believes we’re doing a good job,” she said.
The pair has owned the bed and breakfast for more than 11 years and have spent time during the lockdowns renovating the historic building.
