THE 2023 HIBBA indoor bowls season has commenced.
Division one saw Cobden host Camperdown.
The home side kicked off its campaign with seven shots in the first two ends.
Camperdown 2 opened its account with a single in the third end and again on the sixth end.
By the 10th end, Camperdown 2 scored its third single for the match, while Cobden 1 was ahead by 15 shots.
Camperdown 2 managed a quad on end 14 but their night didn’t improve with Cobden 1 defeating Camperdown 2, 30-7.
Glenormiston 1 hosted Camperdown 1.
The visitors had a single on the opening end and was quickly followed up with a double, quad and double on the next three ends for the home side to take an early lead.
On end five, Camperdown 1 ended the run with a triple to trail by four shots.
Glenormiston 1 then kept up the attack with seven shots on ends six through nine to extend its lead 15-4.
The visitors picked up a double and a single on the next two ends, trailing by eight shots after 13 ends.
For the first time this season, Glenormiston 1’s third max pushed jack’s buttons off the mat but Glenormiston 1 gained a double on the replay.

Scotts Creek 1 hosted Timboon Lawn 2 and Scotts Creek opened the match with a single.
Timboon opened its account with a double and a pair of singles on ends two to four while Scotts Creek replied with a pair of singles a trio of doubles and a single on ends five through 10 to take the lead, 10-4.
The visitors arrested the run with a double on the next end.
Unfortunately for Timboon Lawn 2 second Jean, the trip with jack away from the green zone wasn’t planned on end 12 and Scotts Creek picked up a double on the replay.
The rest of the match played out with Scotts Creek 1 defeating Timboon Lawn 2, 20-11.
Also in division one, Laang-Ecklin hosted Timboon Lawn 1.
The visitors started the match with a single before the home side picked up a single and a double to open its account.
Timboon Lawn 1 then picked up a single and a triple on ends four and five, before tragedy struck on the next end.
Sadly for Timboon Lawn 1’s third ash, jack was not co-operating and booked a trip off the mat but Timboon Lawn 1 picked up a single on the replay to level the score at six all.
A triple on end seven for Laang-Ecklinhelped but Timboon Lawn 1’s fiver on end eight left a bit of a mark on the way through to take the lead 11-9.
Unfortunately for Laang-Ecklin second Paul, jack was resisting physics and left the green stuff and Timboon Lawn 1 picked up a single on the replay.
Laang-Ecklin could only manage a double, single and a triple for the rest of the match, losing to Timboon Lawn 1, 25-27.
Division 2 looks a little different this season with a late withdrawal causing a bye and Mepunga rejoining the competition.
Timboon Lawn 4 had the bye this week.
Timboon Lawn 3 hosted Simpson 1 and the visitors opened the match with a single and a triple, before the home side picked up a double on end three.
Simpson 1 kept the pressure up with a quad and a pair of singles on ends four to six before Timboon Lawn 3 replied with a triple and a double on the next two ends to trail 7-10 after eight ends.
Simpson 1 kept pressing and picked up a pair of singles on the following two ends but Timboon Lawn 3 halted the run on end 13 with a single to maintain its reach 7-12.
Two shots either way on ends 11 to 13 changed little but the visitors picked up a triple on the next end to extend their lead 17-9.
The home side’s last effort was a single and a triple on ends 15 and 16 but Timboon Lawn 3 couldn’t keep out Simpson 1, 13-23.
Mepunga 2 hosted Glenormiston 2.
The visitors started well, opening with a pair of doubles before the home side came back with a pair of doubles and a triple of their own to take an early lead 5-4.
Glenormiston 2 picked up a triple to take the lead before Mepunga 2 had a bit of a run, scoring 11 shots on ends seven through 12 to retake the lead 16-7.
Glenormiston 2 arrested the run with a triple on end 13 to be within six with five ends to play.
The home side responded with a single on the next end but Glenormiston 2 kept digging deep and picked up a double and a triple to be within two shots with two ends to play.
Glenormiston 2 had a chance on the penultimate end but ended up pushing a little too hard.
Mepunga 2 defeated Glenormiston 2, 19-17.
Closing out the division 2 was Mepunga 1 hosting Simpson 2 and the visitors opened the match with a single.
The home side opened its account with a triple and a double before tragedy struck on end four.
Unfortunately for Simpson 2 skip Lyndon, jack’s idea of a good time was in the Bahamas and Mepunga 1 picked up a single on the replay to take an early lead 10-1.
Singles either way changed little and a pair of singles to Mepunga 1, with Simpson 2 also picking up a single, meant half the match was gone.
On end 10, Mepunga 1’s second Rex saw jack and took it off the mat for a talking to and Simpson 2 managed a double on the replay, to be within six with eight ends to play.
Doubles either way progressed the match forward but the visitors fought back hard to be within five shots.
Mepunga 1 defeated Simpson 2, 19-14.
Division 3 saw Timboon Lawn 5 host Glenormiston 3 and the match started off with the visitors bagging a triple before the home side countered with a single on the second end.
On ends three through six, Glenormiston picked up a fiver and a single, while Timboon Lawn 5 picked up a quad and a single to be only three shots behind.
The visitors pushed forward, scoring on seven consecutive ends, while Timboon Lawn 5 picked up a pair of singles for the remainder of the match.
Timboon Lawn 5 lost to Glenormiston 3, 30-8.
Scotts Creek 3 played Scotts Creek 2.
The “home side” opened the match with a pair of triples and a sextuplet, before the visitors picked up a pair of quads to trail by four shots after end five.
From this point onwards, there were no instances of jack leaving planet felt and Scotts Creek 2 only managed a single for the remainder of the match.
Scotts Creek 3 defeated Scotts Creek 2, 40-9.
Cobden 2 hosted Peterborough and the visitors opened the match with a double, while the home side picked up 11 shots on ends two through five.
The following five ends saw both sides pick up three shots each.
Cobden 2 picked up a triple on end 11 and Peterborough was kept to a pair of singles for the remainder of the match.
Cobden 2 defeated Peterborough 23-7.
