Heytesbury indoor bias bowls association- Notes
Bang a gong we are back, the 2023 Heytesbury Indoor Bowls season is on!

Bang a gong we are back, the 2023 Heytesbury Indoor Bowls season is on!
Last Wednesday, about 70 players braved wet and cold weather to play at Timboon Sports Stadium for the HIBBA Opening Tournament.
Three games of seven ends made for a nice opener to the season, as well as a welcome back to Mepunga once again.
In the end, the only three-game winners for the evening were Barb Draffen(s), Murray Lucas, Helen Hobbs and David Ham.
Runners-up for the evening were the only team with two and a half wins - Brett Mungean (s), Rob McCrabb and Brenda Willis.
The raffle on the night was won by Doug Byron.
Thanks to everyone who came out and made the night a success, Max and Pam Wines, Jason Mungean and everyone that helped transport, set-up, packed-up and load-up equipment, as well as thanks to Rachel at Timboon Sports Stadium for having us.
Next Wednesday, the 2023 pennant season starts and just a few reminders for the upcoming season:
- Please make sure that both scorecards match each other as there have been issues in the past where end scores are not the same on both cards. This helps both the pennant secretary and the press secretary every week.
- Send through a photo of the completed scorecards (one front and one back) to pennant Ssecretary Kathryn Wines (0409 013 720) and press secretary Scott Pierce (0418 218 547 or hibbapress@gmail.com). Feel free to send any action pics as well for the newspaper.
- Pennant fees this year are $7 to the host club (up from $5) due to increasing costs recently. The change was passed at the last annual general meeting and is the first increase in a long time.
- Start time is 8pm for pennant unless an agreeable prior arrangement has been made to start earlier.
- If division two Clubs are unsure where Mepunga Hall is located, take a look on Google Maps first. Failing that, please let Scott know as soon as possible.
The eventual aim is to have all halls in the Heytesbury Association visible on Google Maps to make life easier for everyone.
Other dates of note are:
- Entries close for Ballarat Social Day at Sebastapol BC on Sunday, April 30, 2023. The Social visit day is a week later on Sunday May 7, 2023.
- Camperdown Soup and Sandwich Tournament is on again this year and starts Tuesday May 2, 2023.
- Entries close for VIBBA mixed pairs, mixed fours and singles, as well as entries for Ballarat Inter Group Championships. VIBBA entry forms are to be distributed shortly.
Now that you are all caught up, This Week in Heytesbury comes to a close.
Next week, we start bringing you all the pennant action right to your doorstep - thanks to Western District News.
See you next week.
