Heytesbury Indoor Bias Bowls Association Notes
This week in Heytesbury the machine is starting to fire up and assemble the indoor bowlers.

This week in Heytesbury the machine is starting to fire up and assemble the indoor bowlers.
This Week in Heytesbury is quite chock-o-block with indoor bowls action and available for the sum of a container (or two) of your favourite beverage, so let’s start with round five pennant action from last Wednesday.
First up were Cobden (1) hosting Scotts Creek (1) and the after seven ends the score was locked at 7-all..
The home side broke the deadlock with two singles, followed by the visitors picking up a four on end 10 to lead 11-8. Singles either way progressed the match forward but after Cobden second Bill
sent the jack off the mat Scotts Creek collected a double on the replay leading 16-9.
The home side hunkered down, picking up three shots on the next two ends. With three ends to go, Scotts Creek skip Allen sent the jack off the mat, with Cobden scoring a single on the replay and
re-taking the lead 17-6.
The visitors controlled the last two ends, with Cobden (1) losing to Scotts Creek (1) 17-21.
The next match was the battle of the Camperdowns – (2) vs (1) – and the match started off with singles either way. On end five Camperdown (1)’s third Les sent jack off the mat but grabbed a single
on the replay to trail 3-6. After a flurry of scoring end 10 finished with Camperdown (2) three shots behind.
After Camperdown (1) scored a double on end 11, the home side scored three doubles on the next three ends to lead by one. That was until the visitors reclaimed six on the following end to lead 22-
17 with four ends to play.
Camperdown (2) could only manage a double on the next end, losing to Camperdown (1), 19-25.
The third match was the battle of the Timboon Lawns – (2) vs (1) – and the home side claimed seven shots in the first five ends of the match, before the visitors stemmed with the flow with a single on
end six.
Unfortunately for Timboon Lawn (1) there wouldn’t be much joy after that. On end 13, Timboon Lawn (1) third Ash sent the jack off the mat, with Timboon lawn (2) scoring a single on the replay. The
visitors would double their score on end 16 but in the end, Timboon Lawn (2) defeated Timboon Lawn 1, 29-2.
Rounding out the division one coverage this week was Camperdown (3) hosting Laang-Ecklin.
The home side scored a pair of doubles to open before the visitors found a double of their own on end three.
An exchange of singles saw Camperdown lead 3-6 after six ends. The home side kept the shots coming, adding six shots to the visitors’ single on ends seven through 10. Camperdown kept the
scoring pressure on, although a single and double on ends 15 and 16, drew Laang-Ecklin to within three shots.
A single to the home side on the penultimate end meant that the visitors had the last end to play. Except that it was a no score and Camperdown (3) defeated Laang-Ecklin 15-11.
Your division one top four this week are: Timboon Lawn (2), Timboon Lawn (1), Scotts Creek (1), Camperdown (1).
This week’s division to action kicked off with Glenormiston (2) hosting Camperdown (4)
Despite a slow start by the home side, both sides were eight all after as many ends. After some tight exchanges Glenormiston scored a double and a single to lead 12-10 after 13 ends.
Ends 14 through 16 were all the visitors, scoring five shots to reclaim the lead 15-12 with two ends to go. The home side responded with a double to be one shot behind on the last end. The visitors
dug deep and Glenormiston (2) lost to Camperdown (4) 14-19.
The next match was Cobden (2) hosting Simpson (1) and both sides opened the match with five shots each after the first four ends. A double, triple and a single on ends eight through 10 set up
Cobden to lead 13-8. A series of singles saw Simpson take the lead 15-13 until the home side picked up a valuable quad and single on ends 14 and 15 to lead 18-15.
A double on the next end to the visitors kept them within a shot but was two shots as the home side scored a single on the penultimate end. In what was already a very tightly-contested match,
Simpson skip Lyndon was denied jack’s co-operation on the mat but managed a single on the replay. Cobden (2) defeated Simpson (1) 23-18.
Our next match was the battle of the Timboon Lawns – (3) vs (4). The home side started the match with a triple, while the visitors scored a single on the next end. The home side doubled their score
on end three, while the visitors started their assault scoring nine shots on ends 4-8 and taking the lead 10-6.
Timboon Lawn (3) replied with a double and a quad on the next 2 ends to retake the lead 12-10. Three shots either way on ends 11 through 14 progressed the match forward and a single to the home
side on the next end kept the invaders at bay 16-13.
End 16 was not kind for Timboon Lawn (4)’s Lead Phil as being too accurate leaves jack off the mat and Timboon Lawn (3) picked up a double on the replay. Singles to close out the match meant that
Timboon Lawn (3) defeated Timboon Lawn (4) 20-14.
Closing out the division two coverage this week was Scotts Creek (2) hosting Glenormiston (1).
After five ends Glenormiston led 5-2 in what was starting to shape up as a tightly-contested match. Singles either way altered little but the home side broke the tit-for-tat with a pair of doubles on ends
eight and nine gave them the lead 7-6, albeit briefly with the visitors squaring it off at seven all on the next end.
Glenormiston broke the impasse on ends 10 and 11 with a single and a double to re-take the lead 9-7. A pair of singles either way on ends 12 through 15 meant ends were running out for Scotts
Creek, and Glenormiston added a triple with three ends to go to, adding to the pressure. Scotts Creek (2) scored a double on the penultimate end but lost to Glenormiston (1) 11-15.
Your division two top four this week are: Timboon Lawn (4), Glenormiston (1), Glenormiston (2), Cobden (2).
Division three coverage is right here and we start this week with Scotts Creek (3) hosting Simpson (2).
Simpson started out with a triple to open the match before the home side replied with a pair of triples and a fiver on ends two though four to take an early lead 11-3. Simpson then retaliated in ends 5
through 12, adding twenty-one shots to take the lead, 24-11. Scotts Creek (3) could only manage singles on ends 13 and 16 for the rest of the match losing to Simpson (2) 13-35.
The next match was the battle of the Glenormistons – (3) vs (4) – and both sides scored two shots each in the first three ends of the match. End four saw Glenormiston (4) second Brian wrestle jack
off the mat, but he got a single on the replay. Not to be outdone, Glenormiston (3) third Glenn sent jack off but bagged a quad on the replay.
The home side scored three shots to the visitors single in ends six to nine but the next two ends would prove “interesting”. On end 10, Glenormiston (3) second Dawn told jack to get off the mat and
Glenormiston (4) claimed a single on the replay. The very next end, it was Glenormiston 4’s second Brian coming back for more and jack winning off the mat but Glenormiston (3) grabbed a double while they could.
It was one-way traffic after that, with Glenormiston (3) losing to Glenormiston (4) 15-21.
Ending this week’s pennant coverage was Wiridjil hosting Peterborough and unfortunately for Wiridjil, they had to forfeit to Peterborough.
Your division three top four this week: Glenormiston (3), Glenormiston (4), Peterborough, Simpson (2).
